Clayton Patton

Clayton Patton is a Vice President and joined Boxwood in October 2022. Prior to joining Boxwood Clayton served as Vice President of Finance for Natural Capital Partners where he helped lead the company through a successful sale to a private equity firm in April of 2021. Post-closing, Clayton helped guide the company through a merger with a competitor, ultimately serving as Interim CFO for Climate Impact Partners, the combined company.

Prior to joining Natural Capital Partners Clayton was the Controller for JEM Restaurant Group, a YUM Brands franchisee, and Axial Networks, Inc. Prior to Axial, Clayton was Co-Founder and CFO of a wearable technology and software startup where he helped raise several rounds of angel investor capital. Prior to that, Clayton was an early employee at SFX Entertainment, where he was part of an aggressive roll-up strategy of live entertainment businesses and a successful IPO on the Nasdaq in October of 2013.

Clayton started his career at PwC, where he worked for PwC’s Deals practice in New York. During his time with PwC, Clayton performed due diligence and advisory services to both private equity and strategic investors.

Clayton’s years of accounting and finance experience working in a wide variety of industries help him to serve clients well, as he has been in their shoes and understands the challenges they are facing first-hand.

Clayton earned his B.S. in Accounting from the Charles F. Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University and is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

The New Jersey native currently resides in Charleston, SC with his wife and daughter.
